I agree this is a bit bonkers. Same story in Canada. We bought a plug-in hybrid and got $5000 off on the spot, the dealership did the paperwork. I am currently a bit afraid to go all-in on electric. We are getting further and further away from "analog" living...
These numbers are simply... staggering. Not to mention the cost (and carbon footprint) of building kabillions of charging stations, or the impetus behind this "go fuel-free" push (i.e. so they can flip a switch and turn all of those charging stations off any old time they want). It's terrifying and also, what can be done???
What can be done is the ultimate question, @JennaMcCarthy. We here at CL try to take a measured approach about what we see, but in this case, the forces working to push a transition at lightning speed under the auspices of the environment are seemingly unstoppable. Only individual action, ideally in concert, will slow the rolling out of the control grid, which we see underpinning this "green" movement. But unfortunately, climate change hysteria combined with divisive social media and nefarious actors manipulating everything we see and do (not to mention the corrosive forces of bots and AI) has meant that we are all effectively impotent. What's real and what's not anymore? Hard to know. This always circles us back to the individual -- surround yourself with a tribe that is grounded in reality and recognizes the same things you do (NOT an echo chamber, though); never underestimate the power of you to change the world; practice gratitude; model the behavior you'd like to see in others rather than preach and; always always always speak truthful words. These are cliches and platitudes, for sure, but everyone's practical action is situation dependent and should be assessed as such. Still, do what you can to build resiliency and redundancies in your life and stay true to your principles, even in the face of insurmountable odds.
@JennaMcCarthy -- it was recently suggested we see the documentary 'The Dimming' and so, it's now on our 'to watch' list. We can compare notes sometime.

Amen! Someone shared this rabbit hole with me today... it's an interesting breakdown of the whole chemtrail/climate business. https://chemtrails.substack.com/p/chemtrail-hoax-the-greatest-psyop
